Optional add-on · Protection Cover
Repairing damaged tombstones: when and how.
Over time, even the strongest tombstones show signs of wear. Cracks, fading names or a leaning headstone are not just physical issues — they can feel deeply personal. Protection Cover lets you act promptly, protecting both the structure and the meaning behind it.
Protection Cover is an add-on. Get it for a tombstone bought through Inxaso — on your Tombstone Plan or in the Shop (cash or lay-by) — or for a family tombstone already standing in any cemetery.

When to take action
How to tell it is time.
Not all damage is immediately obvious. These are the common signs that a tombstone needs professional attention.

Visible structural damage
The kind of damage you can see the moment you arrive at the grave.
- Cracks or chipped granite
- Broken corners or a split base
- A headstone that is leaning or sinking

Faded or damaged inscriptions
The name and the words matter as much as the stone they are cut into.
- Letters becoming difficult to read
- Peeling paint or worn engraving
- Discolouration caused by weather exposure
Our weather does the damage slowly.
South Africa's changing climate plays a major role in long-term wear. Heat, rain and shifting soil gradually weaken even a well-installed tombstone. Acting early almost always prevents more costly repairs later — which is exactly what a small monthly premium is for.
How we restore them
Repairs handled with care and skill, at our cost.
- Re-levelling and stabilising leaning or sunken tombstones
- Repairing cracks, chips and structural damage
- Re-engraving faded or worn inscriptions
- Polishing and resealing granite surfaces
- Replacing severely damaged sections where necessary
Affordable repairs you can trust.
Families often face financial pressure when repairs are needed. Cover turns that pressure into a small monthly premium, and an approved repair costs you nothing extra. Repairs is available nationwide, without compromising on quality, and always delivered with dignity and care.
Premiums
Your premium follows the value of the tombstone.
- One free annual inspection and clean
- Cover continues for as long as premiums are paid
- Available on cash and lay-by purchases

Waiting periods
No waiting period
Accidental damage, vandalism, theft of fittings, storm, subsidence and landslide are covered from your first successful premium.
3 month waiting period
Wear and tear repairs, cleaning and re-lettering become claimable after three consecutive monthly premiums.
What is not covered
- Damage that happened before the cover started
- Deliberate damage caused by the policyholder
- Memorials outside a recognised cemetery or burial ground
- Cosmetic changes or new inscriptions you request yourself
- Claims made while premiums are in arrears

Which cover does what
Protection Cover protects a tombstone that already exists.
Two covers that work together. One puts the tombstone up, the other keeps it standing. Take them separately or together.
